About my favourite game
About god of war 2.
The objective of the game is very simple, just play through the story driven game till you defeat the last boss. Of course, there are obstacles hindering your progress such as puzzles, traps and other bosses. Though it is very simple in terms of game concept, it is the content and changing styles of gameplay that makes the game extraordinary.
Players take control of Kratos, the main character, an anti-hero that seeks vengeance against the Olympian gods who betrayed him. Through the game, Kratos faces tons of enemies of various kinds, each have their own characteristics and gets stronger as well as smarter as the game progresses requiring the players to employ new tactics to take them down. An example would be that at the beginning of the game, enemies can be defeated by simple button-mashing but that slow changes as enemies get smarter and learns to block or gang up on Kratos so players will have to fully utilize Kratos’ combat abilities such as special moves. Sounds simple right, well the real charm about the battles is the ‘brutality’ and ‘interactivity’ that the players can feel as Kratos destroys his enemies and that boss battles are very grand and epic-like.
The charm of the game is the level-design. Everywhere Kratos goes always seems different. There is always something new to see and puzzles as well as traps in the game gets trickier as the player progresses more into the game requiring players to utilize their imagination as well as the new abilities that Kratos posses to overcome them. However, the real charm about the level design is the ‘things’ that Kratos ‘do’ to progress further into the game. From using body-parts of his enemies to sacrificing innocent people to unlock puzzles that hinder him really expresses the deepness of Kratos’ character and his drive for vengeance.
